You get a medal for beating a boss without getting hit in Order. Only "achievement run" I've ever given up on. Dracula is just too hard and there's not a single weapon combo that I was aware of that you could cheese him out with.

"Aria of Sorrow hasn't aged that well"

Lol. What? That's a stupid take if I've ever seen one.

Cartel Jameson I know right? If anything dawn of sorrow has aged worse because of its stupid touch screen gimmicks with the Seals( still love that game).

When that iconic Castlevania 2 music came in at 7:40 I immediately started singing Dan Avidan’s lyrics to it. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I disagree with the Aria vs Dawn of Sorrow part. I still prefer Aria over Dawn because of the artwork and the story. The main reveal about Soma's true nature blew my young mind back then.

For masochists: play castelvania order of eclisia, unlock hard mode and play with max lvl 1, and use no healing items or consumables. Also use a new save slot so you don't get your previous equipment and beat every boss without getting hit.
                                  It's hard but fun.

The third season will be 10 episodes and I'm sum what worried about the animation budget but this is Netflix so I'm doubtful that it'll be a problem.

1: I love Dawn of Sorrow. Soma reminds me of Dante but with a cool soul gimmick, less personality, and a white jacket instead of red. But I really wanna see it on virtual console like Aria. Come on, let's see an emulation of the whole trilogy.
2: Hector and Isaac appear in this series. I still have an xbox so I plan on getting Curse of Darkness since I always thought it looked cool.

allow me to show up late and spew nostalgia free and angry youtube comments at you, because I sure did not enjoy this show haha

Tho I gotta say I'll only disagree on the writing for the villains partly, since you point out that the writers do a good job of making them likable for how much screen time they've been given. Besides making the viking guy and dracula more sympathetic in their goals and the lady a very easily hatable character, I'm not sure the writers really put enough care into motivations and plans, especially for the two humans, let alone some of the deus ex machina level bs some of them pull...and that's in despite being in a show about bs magic and questionable physics.

Maybe I'm biased since I liked the viking guy for being the only smart one among all the villains, until he was just killed off, almost casually. He didn't act how anyone described him, but he was still the most fun, until the nofun cardboard characters wrote him out of the show.

tbh weak writing throughout 80% though the action and art/sound direction does make up for it, have to agree there. Good video overall, I'd say.

Castlevania 3 not fun!? See me after class. Oh, and if you're looking for a Castlevania game with thick narrative and character development, I highly recommend Lords of Shadow. That game has its haters but I'm not one of them. The twist at the end is a real treat if the internet hasn't spoiled it for you yet. The DLC is important narrative-wise but I wouldn't blame anyone for skipping the gameplay part of it and just watching the cutscenes on YouTube.

                                                                    • Mike Vasquez

                                                                        1. the first one thought this one is pretty darn old so it might not be for everybody
                                                                        2. Super castlevania 4 basically a remake of 1 but it has way better controls and "graphics" and it also helps it's much easier
                                                                        3. Castlevania Symphony of the night

Hi, i never played any Castlevania, nor know anything about them (only that exist and are badass -i'm from a console-videogamenazi family, just got my first console in 2010 when i was 22.... so, yeah, forgive my ignorance, it's not intended) and i really liked the series, it felt complete, round. For a 0 knowledge about the matter person i didn't felt left out, on the contrary, it invited me to know about all of it. Sure, i missed the details that fans can recognize, but that didn't stop me from getting amazed.

Also, i'm a novelist, i write stories and, maybe is strange, but i find natural the interactions between the 3 heroes. It's awkward and totally fine, they're suposed to be enemies. I see the 1st season "friendly ending" as a matter of circumstances. The 3 heroes are very acid an tough, getting along all of the sudden would be even more unnatural. The "relaxed times" and the "feisty" ones are a way to test the trust between each other (Alucard and Belmont aren't the communicational type. If you notice, they match at stuff they have in common: fighting and the uncertainty of they're situation). Also Alucard plays the "man without land" role (against his race, supporting the humans who fear him), which, with his personality is a tough cookie to go through.

If you're looking to get into the Castlevania games there are a couple others I would recommend personally. For a more difficult but equally flashy and fun experience I would highly recommend Rondo of Blood. It introduces Richter Belmont (who I was introduced to in SotN and was seriously confused) while also offering a more traditional Castelvania gameplay. If you're more into steadily getting stronger while you play? SotN, Sorrow games, and the other DS titles are good as well but I would also encourage you to look into the Lords of Shadow games and I know this is going to be divisive but hear me out. Lords of Shadow play like a slightly watered down DMC or God of War but have decent stories and can help you get a bit more invested in the Castlevania universe without relying on the 2D platforming that is, while I love it, a bit dated to some gamers.

It was a really cool experience and I could certainly see that the animators put a lot of love into it. Regarding the fight scenes, they apparently took some inspiration from martial artists that they interviewed
